Why n8n Became My Go-To Automation Tool

I stumbled upon n8n three months ago while looking for an automation tool to streamline my marketing efforts. I'd tried Zapier before, but I was intrigued by the open-source model of n8n. The community support is growing, but it still lacks the extensive documentation and immediate customer service that you get with mature products like Zapier.

Another point of frustration has been the occasional update that breaks existing workflows. It took me back to my earlier days of debugging code at 2 AM. Thankfully, it's open-source, so you have the ability to dive in and fix things, but not everyone's cup of tea, of course.

Who Should Use n8n?

If you're a developer or comfortable with self-hosting your tools, n8n is perfect. It offers more control and customizability, allowing you to automate tasks specific to your use case. For instance, my n8n workflows span writing blog posts in Ghost, sending cold emails, and managing support tickets. For me, this control is an essential aspect of tweaking operations at Dnyantra.

On the other hand, if you're someone who needs something quick, easy, and without the need for technical setup, Zapier is still a more user-friendly option. Its ease-of-use could save you from spending hours reading through forums or tweaking the server configurations just to get started.

Where Next with n8n

For now, I've fully integrated n8n into my stack and it's helping keep my solo operation running smoothly. As I continue building Screenshots and rattling ideas for Sasstra, having a reliable automation workflow is highly advantageous.
